Lina Romay might never have been if not for a car accident. She was not in the car accident herself. Soledad Miranda, the first of director Jess Franco’s starlets, was killed in 1970 at the age 27 in the accident and Franco was left to find a new muse.
In stepped Rosa María Almirall Martínez. She would become Franco’s muse and star in a few hundred of Franco’s films. Romay would borrow her name from the 1940s jazz singer/actress.
